Kwazamokuhle Secondary in Hendrina, Mpumalanga. Hendrina. A place so deep in Mpumalanga that even Google Maps takes a moment to think about it. But you know what, the school is out here with 1464 learners and 46 teachers, which means one teacher is basically running a small township meeting every single period. 31.8 kids per class. That is not a classroom, that is a taxi that just passed the rank and nobody got off. The teacher at the front is the driver, the learners are packed in, and somewhere in the back someone is still eating vetkoek from the tuck shop. Now here is the part where I have to stop laughing and actually tip my hat, because a 96.8% matric pass rate with those numbers is genuinely ridiculous. Forty six teachers, nearly fifteen hundred learners, probably load shedding knocking out the lights every second period, and these kids are still passing matric at a rate that would embarrass half the private schools in Sandton who charge more per term than a second hand bakkie. Do the maths yourself. Kwazamokuhle literally means "strive for better" or something close to it, and honestly the school is out here living up to its own name while everyone else is still busy printing their fancy prospectus with a fountain on the cover. Overall verdict: Looks rough on paper, hits different in the results, genuinely one of the hardest working schools in the country and it is not even close.
