Then there are the extras, which no fee table includes: R3,000 to R8,000 for uniform in the first year, R1,500 to R6,000 a year for books and stationery, R8,000 to R20,000 once for the laptop that turns compulsory around Grade 4 or Grade 7 at many independents, and R500 to R5,000 a year for the building fund.
