You are Randburg, where the traffic on Jan Smuts is a lifestyle and the mall still has that one escalator that has been broken since 2009. Calling yourself Dukes in Randburg is like pulling up to a braai in a Corolla and telling everyone it's a sports car. 120 learners and 13 educators. That ratio is actually wild, 9.2 learners per teacher, which sounds amazing until you realise there are only 120 kids in the whole school. That is smaller than a single grade at a normal school. Your entire matric class probably fits in one minibus taxi with seats to spare. Sports day must be done by lunch. The tuck shop queue is literally three people. You sneeze in the corridor and the whole school knows your business. "Private school" energy with a combined phase, co-ed, and barely over a hundred kids in all of Randburg. Listen, there is something charming about a small school where everyone knows your name, but at 120 learners the teachers do not just know your name, they know your mother's name, your dog's name, and exactly what you got wrong in your maths test last Tuesday. Overall verdict: Dukes is less of a royal institution and more of a very intimate family gathering that somehow has a school registration, but the teacher attention is genuinely unmatched and your kid will not get lost in the crowd.
