Woodhill College (Pretoria)

Woodhill College in Pretoria East, where the fees for Grade 12 are R139,455 a year. That is not a school fee, that is a bond repayment. Your parents are literally paying off a house but the house is homework and a blazer. R139k and the school's own description says "no boarding facilities." So you are paying Sandton City prices and you still have to go home every day. No five-star dorm, no chef, nothing. Just a very expensive lift club through Garsfontein at 7am. 1,204 learners and 72 educators, which works out to almost 17 kids per teacher. For what they are charging per head, you would think every learner gets their own personal tutor, a life coach, and a guy who carries their bag. But no, your teacher is still trying to remember if it is Joshua or Jason while collecting homework from 16 other Joshuas. The IEB curriculum sounds fancy until you realise you are still crying over the same past papers as everyone else, just in a nicer building in Pretoria East. And "Pretoria East" they say it like it is a personality. The school description does not mention a single thing that makes it special except that it exists and it costs a lot. No ethos, no vision, no Latin motto, just "we are here, we have learners, please swipe your card." At least have the audacity to pretend you are building future leaders or something. Overall verdict: Woodhill College is a very expensive place to be perfectly average, but at least the address sounds good at braais.
