One teacher to almost 35 learners. Thirty. Five. That is not a classroom, that is a taxi rank with a blackboard. The teacher calls the register and by the time they get to the last name, the first kid has already gone home, grown up, and started their own family. If you raised your hand with a question in that class, statistically you were never getting answered. That hand just became part of your personality. 1291 learners at a primary school in Mossel Bay. Mossel Bay. Where the petrol is cheap and the vibe is slow and everyone knows everyone. Except apparently at this school, where you could lose an entire grade in the corridor and nobody would notice until sports day when the relay team is mysteriously one short. Overall verdict: Isalathiso is out here doing the Lord's work with government money and half the staff they actually need, which honestly makes it more impressive than any R30 000 a term school in the Southern Suburbs.
