Broe, with a 7:1 ratio you are basically paying for a private tutor who also has six other kids in the room. You are so known at this school that the teacher probably knows what you had for breakfast. Which is fine, because at R109,000 a year for Grade 12, your parents had to sell breakfast to afford the fees. R109,000. For ONE year. Of Grade 12. In Helderberg. Not London. Not Geneva. HELDERBERG. You could take your kid on a trip around the world for that money and call it "global readiness" yourself. And speaking of global readiness, the school says it prepares you for the world. Which world? The Helderberg taxi rank is right there, that is a full cultural immersion, free of charge. Also "more than a place of learning, it's a close-knit community." My broe, with 189 learners in the whole school, you do not have a community, you have a group chat. Everyone knows everyone's business. You cannot fail a test without the Grade 4s finding out by lunch. At least the teacher-to-kid ratio means nobody is getting lost in the crowd, because there IS no crowd. It is basically a braai with homework. Overall verdict: Helderberg International School is genuinely intimate and probably brilliant, but calling yourself "international" while charging international prices from a suburb in Somerset West is the most Western Cape thing we have ever heard.
