Hoërskool Noord-Kaap in New Park, Kimberley. New Park. They named the area New Park and I promise you there is nothing new and there is no park. Just dust, diamonds that someone else already took, and 1 222 kids sharing 46 teachers. That ratio is 26.6 to 1, which means your teacher is basically running a taxi. Standing room only, someone's bag is on your lap, and the driver is trying to explain calculus while navigating chaos. Jy weet hoe is dit. Now the description they wrote about themselves is genuinely the most beige thing I have ever read. "It is a fee-paying school with no boarding facilities." Bru. That is not a school description, that is a disclaimer. That is what you write when you have nothing to brag about but you still need to fill the box. No boarding? Fine. But you could not throw in ONE thing? A garden? A trophy? A teacher who coached rugby once? To be fair though, 93% matric pass rate out of Kimberley is genuinely impressive. The Northern Cape gets forgotten about so often that even the WCED forgets it exists, and yet these kids are out here putting up numbers. That is real. The school may write about itself like a Terms and Conditions page, but the results do the talking. Overall verdict: Humble as a gravel road and twice as rough, but Noord-Kaap is quietly producing winners while the rest of the country is still finding Kimberley on a map.
