Moreri Secondary School in Tseoge, North West. Tseoge. Not Sandton, not Stellenbosch, not even Klerksdorp where at least there is a Checkers. Tseoge. The Google Maps directions probably just say "keep going until the tar road stops, then keep going." Now listen, 18 educators for 565 learners. That is a 31 to 1 ratio. One teacher walks into a classroom and basically sees a small village staring back at them. That is not a class, that is a community meeting. The teacher is not marking homework, they are conducting a census. Jy weet hoe is dit, the one maths teacher probably teaches maths, science, life orientation, and doubles as the tuck shop supervisor on Fridays. But here is the thing that actually hits different. No fees. Zero rands. The government is carrying this school financially, 18 teachers are carrying 565 kids academically, Tseoge is carrying itself, and they still came out with an 85.1% matric pass rate. That is not a pass rate, that is a statement. Half the private schools in the Southern Suburbs with their R50,000 a year fees and their fancy prospectuses cannot touch that number. Moreri did it with nothing and still nearly knocked it out the park. Overall verdict: a school that looks impossible on paper but keeps producing results anyway, which honestly makes it more impressive than half the schools with a mountain view and a marketing budget.
