Tshebedisano Secondary School (Orkney)

Okay so Tshebedisano Secondary School in Kanana, Orkney. One teacher. For 29 kids. At the same time. Every day. Bru, that is not a classroom, that is a taxi rank with a whiteboard. Fifty-two teachers trying to manage 1518 teenagers in the North West is the kind of chaos that makes load shedding feel like a relaxing spa day. Someone is definitely marking homework by candlelight and just giving everyone sixes. But here is the thing that is genuinely making me choke on my boerewors. This school, with all that noise and all those kids crammed in, is sitting on a 97.4% matric pass rate. No fees. North West. Orkney of all places. Not Constantia. Not some fancy school where the parents pay R50k a year and the tuck shop sells sushi. Kanana. And they are out here absolutely cooking. Jy weet hoe is dit, those teachers are working harder than any of us have ever worked in our lives and the results are right there on the paper. The school description is so dry it could blow away in a Joburg July wind, just "we have kids, we have teachers, no boarding." No boarding! As if anyone was out here asking. They did not need to say it, but they said it anyway, just to be safe. Overall verdict: Tshebedisano looks like organised chaos on paper but somehow produces results that would make your fancy suburban school cry into its blazer pocket, absolute respect.
