Okay so Patrick Ramaano High School in Nzhelele, Limpopo. First of all, 2140 learners and 65 teachers. That is not a school, that is a small town that somehow got a timetable. One teacher is out there trying to manage 33 kids at a time, which is basically the same energy as one taxi driver deciding he can fit just five more people after the door already cannot close. Sir is not teaching, sir is surviving. But here is the thing that is going to make every private school kid in the Southern Suburbs want to cry into their R50 000 school fees, Patrick Ramaano is a no-fee school. Free. Zero rands. And they are pulling a 95.8% matric pass rate. No fees, no fancy campus brochure talking about "holistic excellence and world-class facilities," just teachers and kids who actually pitched up and got the job done. Nzhelele does not play. 95.8% pass rate with a 33 to 1 ratio and government funding is the kind of stat that should embarrass every overpriced school that has a astroturf rugby field, a "values-driven ethos," and still manages to produce mediocre results. Patrick Ramaano is out here doing more with less while some schools in Constantia are doing less with more. Overall verdict: Humble building, government budget, absolutely zero excuses, and somehow one of the most impressive pass rates in the country. Respect is due.
