Magale (Nebo)

Magale High School in Phokoanie Village, Nebo, Limpopo. Not exactly the kind of school that ends up on a glossy brochure, but listen, 401 learners showed up and that already tells you something. No fees, government funded, deep in Limpopo, the kind of school where the secretary IS the principal IS probably also the geography teacher on a Tuesday. Eleven educators for 401 kids. Eleven. Bra, that is not a staff room, that is a WhatsApp group. One teacher is handling 36 kids at a time, which means if you had a question in class you were basically submitting a formal application and waiting for processing. Load shedding hits and suddenly the whole school is just vibes and a chalkboard, but honestly at this point the chalkboard is doing more work than the Department of Education. But here is where I have to stop playing around. Eighty eight point six percent matric pass rate. FROM A NO-FEE SCHOOL. IN NEBO. With eleven teachers carrying the whole thing on their backs like they are moving furniture up Long Street on a Saturday. No fancy facilities, no R50 000 fees, no motivational speaker in a blazer telling you to "be the change." Just teachers and learners grinding it out in Limpopo and almost hitting ninety percent. That is not a school, that is a statement. Overall verdict: looks like nothing from the outside, hits like everything on the inside, Magale is the underdog that did not read the script.
