Now let us talk about this ratio, because 30.4 learners per educator is not a class, that is a taxi. One teacher, over thirty kids, trying to explain long division while someone in the back is eating chips and someone else is crying for no reason. Thirty educators looking after 1093 children is the kind of math that keeps principals up at night. You know the teacher is not teaching anymore, she is just surviving. She has the same energy as a load shedding schedule, present on paper but not really doing much when you need her most. And co-educational primary school is always a vibe, boeties and sussies sharing a classroom from Grade R, learning about friendship and also about who took whose rubber without asking. With over a thousand kids crammed in there, you are not getting an education, you are getting a warm-up for peak hour at a taxi rank. The admin lady at the front desk has seen things. Overall verdict: Laerskool Midvaal is basically a small town crammed into one school, chaotic and a bit overwhelming, but somewhere in that organised madness they are clearly producing kids tough enough to handle anything life throws at them.
