But hey, at least the school name sounds fancy, like they named it after a French wine region to distract you from the fact that you are literally in Springs. Now listen, 1329 learners and only 61 teachers. That is a 21.8 to 1 ratio, which means your teacher is basically a taxi driver, just packed everyone in and hoping for the best. You raise your hand for help and the teacher says "ja wag, I have 20 other kids also drowning." Classic. Jy weet hoe is dit. You spend half of Grade 10 just trying to make eye contact. But here is where I have to shut up and give credit, because a 99.5% matric pass rate is genuinely no joke. In a public school, in Springs, with classrooms that probably looked like they survived a load shedding schedule AND a budget cut, these kids still came out swinging. One student did not make it and honestly that person probably moved schools or something because this place clearly does not mess around when it comes to results. Overall verdict: Hugenote sounds like a Stellenbosch wine estate but delivers like a Gauteng workhorse, rough around the edges, packed like a minibus, but somehow almost every single kid walks out with a matric certificate, and that deserves a cold one.
