"Abbotts College... Pretoria East." Bra, that is not a school name, that is what you tell the Uber driver. It is a private co-ed high school in Pretoria East, which tells you everything. Not Sandton private, not Constantia private, just... Pretoria East private. The kind of private where the uniform still looks like it came from Jet but the fees do not. You are paying for the word "College" and the directional suffix, and honestly the directional suffix is doing most of the heavy lifting here. Co-educational is a fancy way of saying the boys and girls are in the same building pretending to study while someone's Nokia is playing music under the desk. To be fair, at least it is a high school, so the kids are old enough to understand what they signed up for. Whether their parents understood what they were paying for in Pretoria East specifically, where the roads have more potholes than the school has answers, that is a different conversation. Overall verdict: It is giving "we tried, we really did" energy, but if it got you your matric certificate, then respect where respect is due.
