Tersia King Learning Academy in Tembisa, coming in hot with 1,777 learners and 82 teachers. That is not a school, that is a small municipality. One teacher is carrying 21.7 kids on their back like they are commuting on a taxi from Tembisa to Joburg CBD at 7am. Standing room only, no aircon, somebody's bag is in your face, and the driver is still stopping to pick up more. That is your classroom experience right there. And the description says, very proudly, "it does not offer boarding facilities." Bro. Nobody asked. That is like a restaurant putting on the menu "we do not serve sushi." Okay? We were not expecting sushi in Tembisa, my friend. You did not need to announce that. Now look, a 98.7% matric pass rate in a school with nearly 1,800 learners is genuinely impressive, we cannot take that away. That is not luck, that is teachers who are clearly built different. Somewhere in that school there is a teacher who has not slept since 2019, surviving on tuck shop gatsby slices and sheer determination, and that person deserves a Bells whisky and a long weekend. The kids are clearly working hard too, Tembisa does not play when it comes to showing up. Overall verdict: Chaotic like a taxi rank at peak hour, but somehow everyone arrives at the destination, so respect where respect is due.
