HoëRskool Jeugland (Kempton Park)

Jeugland. "Youth Land." Someone sat down and named a school "Youth Land" like it's a theme park in Kempton Park. Six Flags but make it Afrikaans. You arrive expecting rollercoasters and you get a register and a geometry set. At least the name is honest, because with 1469 learners crammed in there, it genuinely feels like a whole theme park on a public holiday. One teacher is trying to manage 23 kids at a time, which means your educator basically saw you twice in your entire high school career. Once on the first day and once when you lost your school diary. Kempton Park though. Right there between the airport noise and the N12. Every Geography lesson you could literally hear a Boeing overhead and think, there goes my future. The school is co-ed which in Kempton Park means the boys are talking about cars and the girls are pretending not to listen while also talking about cars. Jy weet hoe is dit. Now listen, a 92.3% matric pass rate is genuinely impressive and we have to give credit where it is due. That is not a joke, that is a flex. Sixty-four teachers stretched thinner than a R5 braai at month end, and they still pushed almost everyone through. That is graft. Overall verdict: Jeugland is basically an underfunded amusement park with overworked staff and somehow the rides still work, which is more than you can say for most things in Kempton Park.
