That ratio is so good your teacher actually knows your name, your mother's name, your grandmother's name, and exactly which page you were supposed to be on. There is nowhere to hide. Forget bunking behind the tuck shop, someone is already there waiting for you with a disappointed look and a register. 333 learners is not a school, that is a very intense family reunion that meets every weekday. You know every single person, every piece of drama, every relationship, every breakup, every time someone failed a test. The whole school fits in one braai venue with space left over for the boerewors roll table. Glenhazel is already one of those neighbourhoods where everybody knows everybody, so putting a school there just means the gossip travels even faster. And that description, hey. "Co-educational independent intermediate school." They wrote that like they were filing a tax return. No vision, no mission, no "we shape tomorrow's leaders," nothing. Just the bare facts, delivered with the energy of someone reading a lease agreement at nine in the morning. Respect for the honesty honestly, but maybe workshop that a little before the next open day. Overall verdict: The school with the best teacher ratio in Joburg and the personality of a shul noticeboard, but clearly doing something right because those kids are being watched closer than load shedding schedules.
