A school so small the rugby team has to borrow kids from the tuck shop queue just to field a full side. One teacher probably teaches Maths, Life Science, AND doubles as the security guard on Fridays. Now about those fees. R42,000 a year for Grade 12 in Heidelberg, Gauteng. Not Sandton. Not Constantia. Heidelberg. The place you pass on the N3 when you are going to Durban and you do not stop. For R42k you are paying private school money to go to a school where everyone knows your name, your surname, your granny's name, and exactly what you got for your History test. There is no hiding at Heidelberg Academy. You sneeze in Period 1 and by break the principal already knows. The learner to educator ratio is 11.2 to 1, which sounds fancy until you realise that means your one teacher is watching you specifically. There is nowhere to sleep in class, nowhere to copy homework, nowhere to be a little bit absent-minded. Every single wrong answer is personally witnessed. It is less of a school and more of a very expensive intervention. Overall verdict: Heidelberg Academy High is a small, overpriced school in a town people use as a bathroom break, but honestly with 10 teachers watching 112 kids, your matric results better be spectacular because there are zero excuses.
