Heidelberg Academy. Heidelberg. Not the famous one in Germany with the castle and the romance and the history. The one in Gauteng where the most exciting thing on a Friday afternoon is probably watching a truck turn at a robot. But okay, they called it an "Academy" so we must respect the vision. Very ambitious name for a primary school in Heidelberg, bru. That is like naming your tuck shop "The Grand Bistro." Now let us talk about this ratio. 389 kids. 17 teachers. That is nearly 23 kids per educator, which means your teacher is basically a taxi driver, just cramming everyone in and hoping nobody falls out before the destination. One teacher, 23 small humans, all needing attention at the same time. That is not a classroom, that is a hostage situation with a whiteboard. Jy weet hoe is dit when the teacher is trying to explain fractions and half the class is already crying about something that happened at break. To be fair though, 389 kids is a solid little community and you can tell people actually chose to send their kids there, which in Gauteng traffic is a whole commitment on its own. Getting to Heidelberg every morning is basically a sport. Overall verdict: Heidelberg Academy is a brave little school with a very big name, doing the most with the least, and honestly for a primary school in Heidelberg, that is already winning.
