Vooruitsig. That means "outlook" or "prospect" in Afrikaans. Bold name for a school in Fauresmith, Free State, where the main outlook is probably a gravel road and a very tired donkey. Fauresmith is so far from everything that when load shedding hits, half the town doesn't even notice because they weren't sure if the lights were on to begin with. You're not in Cape Town, you're not in Joburg, you're in Fauresmith, where the biggest event of the year is probably a sheep being in the wrong field. Now let's talk about those numbers. Two hundred and forty kids, ten teachers. That's twenty four learners per teacher, which means your educator is basically a one-person government department. You know that teacher who teaches Maths, then sprints to teach Life Skills, then somehow also coaches netball and runs the tuck shop? That's every single teacher here. All ten of them.
