Okay so Zonwabele Junior Primary in Willowvale, Eastern Cape. Seventy kids. Three teachers. Let that sink in. Three teachers for seventy kids. That is not a school, that is one teacher holding a class, one teacher trying to find chalk, and one teacher outside pretending they did not hear the bell. The ratio is 23 to 1 and I promise you at least one of those three is also the principal, the admin clerk, and the person who locks the gate at night. Willowvale, Eastern Cape. Not exactly a place that is swimming in resources, and this school's own description is so bare it hurts. "Does not offer boarding facilities." Bru. That is the most polite way of saying what you see is what you get. No boarding, no fees, no frills, just three legends showing up every day in the Eastern Cape trying to teach seventy little humans with what sounds like a box of CAPS documents and sheer determination. And listen, the school description reads like someone filled in a government form at 4pm on a Friday and called it a day. There is nothing wrong with that, it is honest, but even the description is working with limited resources. These three teachers are doing the actual work of a full staffroom and somehow the school is still standing. Overall verdict: Zonwabele is basically three superheroes in a trench coat pretending to be a school, and honestly, respect, because they are pulling it off.
